Where do I even start with my money?
If your money feels overwhelming, start here.
“I'm so overwhelmed with my money. Where do I even start?”
A client asked me this in my group program this week. And you're probably not going to like my answer.
You need a budget. Straight up.
I know. I know how people feel about budgets. Restrictive. Shame. Overwhelm. I don't want to look. I already know it's bad. I've tried budgeting before and it didn't work. I get it.
But a budget is the money tool that changes everything.
When your money feels stressful and overwhelming, there's usually a lot of chaos. You don't really know what's happening, what you can afford, what needs your attention first, or what the next right move is. And when everything feels like a problem, it's really hard to do anything. So you stay stuck in the overwhelm.
A budget turns chaos into clarity.
It tells you: Here's where I am. Here's what I have. Here's what needs my attention. Here's what I can actually do next. And there is SO much power in knowing.
A budget isn't about restricting your life. It's about giving you the information you need to make choices. Can I afford this? Do I need to say no right now? Can I take that trip? Can I start paying off this debt? Instead of guessing, worrying, avoiding, or feeling guilty, you know.
Clarity gives you choices. And choices give you power.
But here's where I see people get stuck. They try to build the budget alone. They open the spreadsheet, don't know what numbers to use, something doesn't add up, they get overwhelmed, and they close it. Then they abandon the whole thing—even though it's the exact tool they need to get out of the chaos.
So instead, I built her budget with her.
It took us about 15–20 minutes. That's it. She came in overwhelmed and not knowing where to start, and she left with clarity about her money and exactly what she needed to do next.
And here's the really cool part about doing this work in a group.
Life is going to happen. Avoidance might rear its ugly head again. She might get overwhelmed, freeze, or struggle to do the next thing. But she doesn't have to stay stuck there.
All she has to do is show up to our next call.
I'll give her the space, accountability, and support to take the next step.
That's what I love about group accountability and support. It helps you get out of the cycle of being overwhelmed, afraid, frozen, and alone with your money. You don't have to magically become someone who never struggles with money again. You have a place to show up when you do struggle so you can keep moving.
That's what we do inside my Financially Empowered Inner Circle. We build your budget together, and then we keep showing up together so you can actually use it to change your life.
You don't need to figure out the spreadsheet. You don't need to know what numbers to use. You don't need to clean up your finances before you come.
You just need to show up.
If you're stressed and overwhelmed with your money, you can't afford to keep doing the same thing and hoping it somehow becomes less overwhelming. Come join me for a month. Let me help you get clear on your money, build the tool you need, and support you as you take the next steps.
